Hate

"If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is a part of yourself. What isn't part of ourselves doesn't disturb us."

-Herman Hesse 1919

Though I find this to be one of the most accurate couple of sentences ever said, this becomes fairly convoluted in games. You usually hate people because they're annoying 12 year olds who keep killing you and corpse humping you while yelling with they're ball-not-dropped-yet voice "You like that Bi(Pitch change)tch!?".
This get's really annoying after about 10 seconds and you start to hate them.

In this space I was going to say "I can't think how this would be true for video games, how can a 12 year old kid yelling obscenity's in to his tinny microphone and raising your blood-pressure until you (personal experience this, from both the inside and outside) Throw the damn controller at the wall and almost put your foot through the TV." What I'll say instead is that I get it, you see that that was probably you years ago.

Ramble ramble ramble.

So I have the flu, and this puts my world in to a very interesting view for me. I REALLY want to go and sleep, but when I lay down all the snot in my head shifts to whichever side of my head is down. This is very uncomfortable and when I feel like switching sides I get this point where the mucus is kinda in the middle of my face and is blocking both sides of my nose JUST enough that I can't breathe, which makes me have to breathe through my mouth and that puts my throat in to a HUGE amount of pain which keeps me awake, so laying down and sleeping is out >.>
NOW I will talk about how cataclysm is lame, cuz my purge now costs about 4 times as much as it used to, and I can't use Hero in arenas anymore which is horseshit.
Japanese people are INSANE, they are incapable of an ending that isn't; a complete contrivance that makes no sense, really really sad and bad, happy in one way and depressing as hell in another, or occasionally one that looks sad but turns out to be happy for some reason which you figure out later but that's kinda fits in with contrived endings.
Deadmau5 and Machinae Supremacy put out new albums! YAY! Pendulum has a new single out and it's pretty decent but I'm looking forward to the album. Why isn't the new Doctor Who season starting until next year T.T, I dislike British television schedules. I should probably buy the rest of Chuck but I don't have any money so i guess that'll have to wait.
There aren't any good games to play on steam, Sins of a Solar Empire gets boring after a few minutes for no reason, I can't focus on WoW long enough to do my damn dailies or a daily random, and I haven't written anything worthwhile in quite a long time which is upsetting.

Up again.

NERD RAGE!!!!! but really, why you mad though?

Ok, so patch 4.0.1 hits WoW and wow I can't stand healing anymore, Dps isn't too bad though. SC2 got a patch too (And all the terran yell "It's such a nerf, I'll never be able to play the same again!") well you know what skill-less slug terrans? They didn't nerf bio ball so have no fear and quit crying about not having rush reapers anymore. Also, i started playing deadspace finaly (not on computer because it doesn't like my windows 7) on my crossbox and it's pretty decent, I have problems with it but it's not bad.

On to the philosophy. I have lost all hope for the warcraft movie because of an interview of Sam Raimi that I saw yesterday. he knows next to nothing about the game world, and less about the actual story and lore. This, as you may imagine, is a problem. The only really hope I can see for it is if Chris metzen gets a huge amount of control over the project, but I doubt that he will. "But ancient gamer, where's the philosophy here?" I shall tell you, this ties around and around in to it's self and starts with the production of a good movie.

Some one makes a very good movie (Inception springs to mind) and everyone loves it as they should. Now, the people who didn't make this movie instantly see that they could make a movie too and it could be good, but they are invariably dumb and do a poor job(The last airbender springs to mind in this case, and that is an example of Tv to film which is never as hard as game to film). Leaving that for a moment, some one makes a very good video game (World of warcraft just for this example) and it sells very well and people love it and all that nice stuff, then as with film, some people decide to make a bad game because they're dumb and used some of the good things from the good game but watered down and stretched out to the point that you hardly notice them anymore. Alright, we're on our way to having a bad game movie, the next step is the fan/player base, this is very important, because with a fan base, even a horrible flop will make millions of dollars. Now back to the people who are good and the people who are bad, unfortunatly the good people are going to be at fault here, they get the deal, it's all good, then they have a nice amount of time to popularize it "Look, this brilliant person who made this fantastic film, is going to make the film of this game!". There is nothing wrong with this IF THE BRILLIANT PERSON PLAYS AND LOVES THE GAME, and Sam Raimi says he does but he who knows, knows. and no one who really plays the game enough to know the lore would talk about it the way he does.and thus we find our selves in the bad situation where they rely on the good name of the director and the game to make you go watch it.Then it's crap.

This also happens all to frequently with books, and Tv shows, so why?

Moving right along then

First, go buy Gold Lion by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, amazing song. Second Blog time.

I will address the whole, why movies are so popular thing first, HUMANS LIKE TO SEE THINGS. Why do we take photographs, to SEE something from that time forever captured in a image, why do we like books occasionally? getting to SEE words though it's not as good, because the same guy/gal watching the porn isn't getting the same thing out of erotica is he/she. No, for them to get gratification from the porn movie, they need only sit there and not think about it, just watch. For the erotica they need to imagine it or else they aren't getting anything from it, it's just words on paper (or monitor).

So once again, why are games exempt from this rule? You watch a game happening don't you? You see pretty colours and flashing lights just like an action movie right? Yes you do, but a game requires you do something, you are controlling the universe you are watching, and some people don't seem to like that. Even worse, some games require you build your own stories, like if you're role playing in a game, you aren't just following the shiny prompts the game is giving you any more, you're building your own world with the people you are acting with—which brings me to the next part.

What makes actors so special? Role players do what they do and even better, even more frequently, even more flamboyantly. RPrs have no shame, they are among other RPrs doing the exact same silly act they are, they are truly living in the world they have created for themselves. Actors are frauds, they aren't living their parts, they put them on like masks from time to time, discarding one to pick up another as jobs shift and change, so we once again find ourselves (my self at least) asking why?

*adopts an even bitchier tone* OMG it's like so like not cool for people to have no shame and just be the person they feel like being at the moment even though it does no harm, they aren't allowed to just drop whatever and who ever they were 2 seconds ago and pick up a new mask instantly, falling in to that mask completely and running with it. They have to fit in to the strict guide lines for what is cool and what isn't, what is socially acceptable, and what isn't. (This has kinda become a rant but W/E) everyone can't just let go and be who they want to be, whenever they want to be that person. too bad.

As you read in the discription...

I am currently kinda tired but who gives a shit anyway.
On with the philosophy. Though you may think it uncommon (And it is) poetry about gaming is just as valid as any other kind of poetry. "The game isn't real!" the myriad morons moan, but they're right. it isn't real, and neither are their favorite stories, books, and movies. Just because Romeo and Juliet isn't real does it have less of an impact on us? Does the story mean less? should we throw it away like an old piece of garbage, something that isn't real and there for has no meaning? Of coarse not, that would be ludicrous. So why are the games I love so deeply exempt from this? And the movies, good god the movies, there are more awards for films these days than there are films, its heinous. And once again, games are exempt from this special treatment. Why, why, why? It doesn't really make sense. So, why shouldn't games impact my life? Why should people look at gamers and say "Eww, he must live with his mother, have no girl friend, be completely socially inept, and eat nothing but cheesys and soft drinks." Its bull shit. A Film maker would be fawned over, and writers... well... um... you know... have... children that don't get put on their wiki pages? I digest. So, the focus for this week is: Why in anything you care to something, do gamers instantly gain the "Lonely Loser" title and 20 achievement points and actors, directors, writers(most of whom are lonely and losers) get the, brilliant human being, visionary, and profound titles, sans achievment points?
